Day 134- to try and to fail, the two things I hate

Day 134- to try and to fail, the two things I hate

I'm slowly getting my Circadian rhythm back on track. EVER so slowly, but i woke up before 4pm today, which was nice. I did my morning work out routine. I started doing this just a few days ago, and already i'm liking it.

Here's the deal. I have no problem with my weight. I don't want to lose any or gain any, if it fluctuates up or down a few pounds, i'm not at all bothered. I'm healthy, and that's great. BUT. On top of healthy, I would really like to tone up my muscles again. All through middle school and high school, i was intensely active. Middle school there was cross country training, 100m dash, 400m relay, long jump, and triple jump to keep me in shape. In high school, it was the forty something hours a week of color guard that I did that gave me super muscular arms, almost abs, and a pretty nice back. i find myself, now, in a sort of state of inactivity that i dislike.

the following is a rant about color guard. if you MUST skip it, i continue normally after the italics.

my brief color guard rant. OK. so a lot of people I talk to giggle when I say I was in color guard. Sometimes they call me a geek, nerd, whatever. Well, here's the thing they don't know about color guard... it's kinda hard core. Let me explain, please hear me out. I never was able to weigh 100 lbs in high school. Why? Constant time spent in the sun or band hall, sprinting back and forth. Endless hours of dance classes. Pushups and crunches when I did something wrong or talked back. Laps when the whole group pissed off our director. If the work isn't enough, you'll have to look at the injuries. During my time in color guard, i broke my nose, 3 toes, injured countless tendons/ligaments/muscles/joints, had 9 stitches [i busted open my eyelid and eyebrow. no i didn't fall], received an accidental slit wrist [scary as hell], lost a good percentage of the cartilage in my knee... and i was constantly so bruised that i had grocery store checkers ask me if i needed a hotline to call. I saw several people break their noses, saw a girls eyebrow get ripped off [not just the hair... the skin too], saw a few teeth get knocked out... i mean... this isn't a game. but we love it, so we do it anyway.

for those of you who don't know. Color guard is called "the sport of the arts," it's main organizations are Winter Guard International (WGI) and Texas Color Guard Circuit, but Marching Auxiliaries also has color guard competitions. My high school color guard, (of which i was spirit captain) was the National Champion of MA my sophomore year. We were world ranked my junior and senior year. We were really good. And i was on the weapon line. SO no we're not just the silly girls out on the field with poles. No. I spun a rifle, and a saber. and before you ask, yes, the saber was made of real metal, not wood.

that's my rant. sorry, i've gotten a lot of shit about it in the past

ANYWAY so i've started doing this routine to tone up and get back my perfect clavicle [which i miss so dearly, i would write it love letters if i knew it's forwarding address.] When i get home for christmas break, i'll start doing a 30 minute run every morning before work, too. I'm not supposed to run, because of my heart condition, but i've been cleared for a bit of light cardio daily. A 10 minutes of running, 5 walking, 10 running, 5 walking... that's light. And it burns more calories to alternate. OH MY GAWD i have to get off of this topic.

roommate and i went and got haircuts today. we're kind of twins. not really, but we have the same bangs. My hair is just 6 inches longer than hers. I've begun the process of removing the blasted layers from my hair. I've got that rope thick hair everyone thinks they want. Trust me. You don't. It never dries, it's a pain to style [it takes 1 hr 45 min for anyone, including professionals, to curl my hair], and it falls out at twice the normal rate to keep up. BUT the layers in it make it look even thicker, and they make it look shorter in the front than in the back. I hate that. I love how long my hair is, and i want it to be the same all around...

after, we returned to the apartment and our studying. i passed both my chemistry lab and my micro lab. woo hoo! 2 classes down, 4 more to go!
